Sam Alfred Hotwells owner

Hi there, I'm Sam Alfred, owner of the Hotwells Shooting Range blog.

I developed a love of firearms at a young age.

I don't remember when, maybe around the time I was 13 years old or so, I shot my first gun.  I was in Boy Scouts and it was summertime and I was camping for the week at a Boy Scout camp in the mountains.

They had something we could sign up for called Black Powder Rifles.  I had no idea what that was, but it sounded like shooting guns and that sounded cool to me so I signed up.  It turned out the activity was to shoot those really old revolutionary war style, single shot, black powder rifles.

It blew my mind.  That thing has big and heavy and loud and there was lots of smoke.  It was very hard for me to hold that big gun and but it was a ton of fun.

Interestingly enough I have not shot a black powder gun since then.  But that is what started it all.  I fell in love with firearms and everything associated with firearms.

Firearms has become a life long hobby of mine and that's why I started, so I could just talk about the gear that I like.

Now, firearms are still just a hobby for me.  I have a full time boring 9 to 5 job, so this is my baby side project that I like to work on.

I hope you enjoy the articles and find them useful.

I do use this blog to try to generate a little revenue, so if you click on the links and buy from one of the vendors, I do get a small amount of compensation.

It really helps because as of this writing, in the summer of 2021, the price of ammo is still ridiculous.  The basic ass 9mm brass shells for the range I used to buy all the time are 10X the price they were a year and a half ago.  It's hard to believe.

Well, any money that I make off this blog goes directly into me being able to purchase more ammo, firearms and accessories, but basically just to buy some ammo.

Thanks!  I appreciate you reading my blog.
